PolioPlus
-Rotary International became involved in the worldwide effort to eradicate polio as a crippling disease in 1988, and through the Rotary Foundation, over $600 million has been donated to the cause; Riverside Sunrise Rotarians are generous supporters of this effort, and members have participated in immunization days throughout the world
"Janet's Closets" at both Grant and Liberty Elementary Schools
-through this project poverty-stricken elementary children are provided new clothing as needed throughout the school year
Dictionaries to Third Graders at Adams , Grant, and Liberty Elementary Schools
-every student in third grade at these schools receives a brand new dictionary, with their own book-plate, to support them in their studies at school
Arlanza Family Health Center
-the five Rotary Clubs in Riverside all donated $5,000 each to the creation of the much needed medical clinic in the Arlanza area of Riverside
Buzz Bee's Storymobile -this traveling van and storyteller will visit Head Start and other day care facilities to encourage greater literacy learning for pre-schoolers
Serving Meals to Seniors at the Eddie Dee Smith Center
-club members cook and serve meals there three times a year
Youth Leadership Programs
-we support an EarlyAct Service club at Adams Elementary and a Rotaract Club at UCR; we sponsor several middle school and high school students so that they can attend PRYDE and RYLA weekend leadership camps; we provide scholarships to students at Riverside Community College and an ROP scholarship through the Inland Agency
Cultural Arts
-sponsorships are provided for children to attend the Riverside Philharmonic and the Riverside Ballet performances
Casa de Cuna Orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico
-club members and students from local high schools and colleges visit the orphanage annually to bring food staples, toys, and books to children who are being taken care of in the orphanage
Medical Clinic in San Javier, Mexico
-doctors, dentists, nurses and other health care professionals fly to San Javier at least twice a year to run health clinics for families in need
Latrine Project in El Salvador
-in cooperation with a Peace Corps Volunteer in El Salvador, the Riverside Sunrise Club is funding the installation of latrines in a poor village there
Self-Sufficiency Training
-through donations to Heifer International our club is helping families of poverty learn the skills they need to farm and care for animals, which will provide them a steady source of income into the future
